Aletta Alene Treichler Evans was born in Broadacres, Oregon at her aunt's farmhouse on June 23, 1918. She was the oldest daughter of Herman and Margie F. Treichler. It has been suggested that Aletta is an Indian name that means "women who has perfect children". She had three brothers: Fred Treichler, Roy Treichler, Albert Treichler and two sisters, Norma March and Margery Wuorinen all whom preceded her in death. Aletta grew up in the Alsea, Oregon area and attended Alsea High School where she was the class Valedictorian and lettered in basketball. After graduation she married Lloyd Evans to whom she was married until his death in 1968. During the period of their marriage she was active in the VFW Post 661 where her husband was a charter member and in the Scouts; her other interests were camping, gardening and reading. From the early 50's until her retirement in the 80's she worked in nursing services for the State of Oregon. When asked what she was most proud she said it was that her children had graduated from college. Her daughter is a retired social worker and her son, a CPA and professional manager. She also has a step son, Lloyd Evans, a retired business manager, who she considered another son and of whom she was very proud.
Aletta will be remembered as a very caring, compassionate person who valued the closeness of her many nieces, nephews and other family members.
She is survived by her brother in law, William Wuorinen of Naselle, Washington, her daughter, Diana Manning of Vancouver, Washington and Lloyd Evans (Myrna) of Baker City, Oregon, and son Allan Evans (Anita) of Salem, Oregon.
We wish to thank Alesha Ault and her staff of Young at Heart Adult Foster Care for taking care of our mother. We trusted her with our mother's care and they provided kind and compassionate services.
Funeral services are Monday, March 14 at 2 pm, at Restlawn Memorial in Salem, Oregon.
