Alexandra Marisela Leonor-Ruiz

Alexandra (Moran) Leonor-Ruiz was born on December 15, 1984 in San Salvador, El Salvador to Jose and Mercedes Moran. She came to the US when she was 15-months old.

Alexandra, or Marisela as most of her loved ones called her, had a happy childhood. She loved spending time with her family and writing poems. She had dreams to go to college to pursue a career in criminal justice; however that was sadly taken away from her when she was diagnosed with heart failure in 2007, at only 22-years old.

Months later, Alexandra met the love of her life, Jose Leonor Ruiz, and they were married in 2010. Despite her long and hard battle with her medical condition, she always had a smile on her face and a positive attitude. She loved spending time with her family: her parents, siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins and her dog, Shadow. She loved traveling and visiting new places, especially trying out new places to eat. Alexandra was always willing to go on shopping trips and collecting figurines of her favorite characters.

Alexandra was a faithful Christian woman, and demonstrated that publicly with her baptism in 2011, alongside her husband. She inspired others around her with her faith and trust in God, always saying that her life was in God's hands and He had the final say in her life.

Alexandra passed away on December 17, 2024 at the age of 40 in Salem, Oregon. She was surrounded by her family in the days before and was very much loved and adored. Alexandra touched the lives of so many people with her amazing testimony and her strength with every challenge she faced. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
