KEIZER - Arlie Boise Williams was born May 7, 1927. Arlie went home to be with his Lord on October 8, 2011. Arlie was born in Battiest, Oklahoma to Alton and Gladys Williams, the second of five boys. Arlie entered World War II in 1945, serving in the US Navy throughout the Pacific Theater. He received a WWII Victory Metal, Philippines Independence Medal, American Campaign Medal, Navy Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, World War II Occupation Medal and Philippine Liberation Medal. Arlie was a Carpenter's Mate Third Class He was in the US Navy Reserves until 1954. He returned to Bakersfield, California and later moved to Oregon where he met and married Cleo Kelso in 1950. They have three children: Kathy Dickinson of Park Rapids, Minnesota, Lyndon Williams of St. Mary's, West Virginia and David Williams of Lebanon, Oregon. Arlie worked for Georgia Pacific for ten years. He worked for Oregon State Corrections for 22 years and retired in 1985. He received an honorable mention from the Governor for his many years of dedication and service to the State of Oregon. He was active with the City of Keizer becoming incorporated. Arlie attended the People's Church in Salem for many years.
Arlie is survived by his wife, Cleo of 61 years, his 3 children, one Grandson and six granddaughters, 3 brothers: Glen of Bakersfield, CA, Jerry of Junction City, OR and Terry of Junction City, Oregon.
Arlie enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting. He and Cleo enjoyed traveling in their RV and camping with their grandchildren on the Coast and in the mountains. He loved Gospel and Country music. Arlie was a devoted husband and father. A special thanks to Willamette Valley Hospice, Hawthorne House and the love and support from Michelle and her staff.
A Memorial service will be held on Friday, October 14th at 2:00 p.m. in Restlawn Funeral Home, private interment will be in Restlawn Memory Gardens, Salem, Oregon
