Audrey was born in Grayslake, IL where she lived with her parents George and Dora Rife and sister Shirley Winn until they moved to Oregon her senior year. She married Ruben Wagner whom she worked alongside building a mobile home park and Ace Septic Tank Service. She and Ruben settled down in Keizer, where they raised their daughter Karen. One year ago she moved to her Independence farm to live with her granddaughter DeAnne and her husband Phil where she remained until her passing. A special thanks to her niece Denise for all the loving care that she provided.
Audrey loved to travel and took many trips abroad traveling to places like the Philippines, England, Holland, Germany and France, but her favorite place was Hong Kong. She was thrilled on one of these trips to have been able to take her daughter and both her granddaughters with her.
Audrey also like to garden and grow flowers. She was always so proud of the way that her yard looked when everything was in bloom. She would frequently cut flowers to share with others because she loved to see how they made people smile.
A talent that she has was for making lap quilts. She would spend countless hours cutting material and sewing them together and then tying them on her quilting racks. Anyone who uses them knows why we call them “Hugs from Gram”.
Audrey was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, sister and three brothers. Audrey is survived by her daughter Karen VonSteiger (Kurt), granddaughter DeAnne Garrett (Phil), granddaughter Kelly Baker (Bruce), nieces Denise Slocum and Laura Winn and nephew Jeff Winn.
Audrey will be interned next to her husband Ruben Wagner at Restlawn Cemetery on July 1, 2020. Viewing will be from 11am to 12:15p in the Restlawn Chapel with a graveside service at 12:30p. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to her favorite charity Salem Friends of Felines or to St. Hilda’s Episcopal Church in Monmouth, OR.
