Betty Lou Ellingsworth

Betty Lou Schaublin was born to Norman and Leotine Schaublin on May 29th, 1937 in Sacramento, CA. They moved to Independence when Norman joined Mt. Fir Lumber Company. Betty met her future husband during her sophomore year of high school at Central High School. LeRoy Ellingsworth married Betty on November 15, 1954. LeRoy worked for Mt. Fir Lumber in Independence when Betty had her daughter, Jannie, and a couple years later their son Dannie.
Betty and LeRoy were members of the Wagon Wheelers Square Dance club. They enjoyed many years square dancing with Norman and Tiny and Betty's sister Norma and her husband Melvin. They also spent many summers camping at the Cove Palisades on Lake Billy Chinook and Antlers Resort on Shasta Lake, Ca. LeRoy and Betty moved to Maupin, Oregon in 1964. Betty raised kids while gardening and square dancing and watching their kids play multiple sports during their middle school and high school years. In May 1975 they moved back to Independence where LeRoy became the plant manager for the Independence division of Mt. Fir.
Betty and LeRoy loved to travel in their motorhome to Pacific Shores north of Newport, Oregon and spent many winters down in Las Vegas where they loved to gamble and go to the shows and enjoyed the weather. Through the years Betty and LeRoy went on cruises with Betty's parents, her kids and their families and her sister Norma and her family.
Betty is survived by her husband LeRoy, her kids, Jannie and Dannie and their families, her sister Norma and her husband Melvin.
Memorial service will be Friday, January 20, at 2:30pm at Restlawn Funeral Home in Salem, Oregon.
