Bob Bevens, long time Salem resident, passed away peacefully at home from heart-related issues on December 11, 2021, at the age of 73 years old. He was with his wife of 32 years, Jan Bevens.
He was born and raised in the Salem/Keizer area and was in the first graduating class at McNary after attending North Salem High School. He was an original participant in developing the Keizer Little League fields and enjoyed coaching and being involved in league operations. His passion for cars of all kinds was well known to many and he enjoyed being a member of the Willamette Valley Street Rods and Willamette Valley Corvette Club through the 70’s and 80’s. After being grounded from flying full size aircraft in his 40’s, Bob took up flying remote controlled airplanes to keep his love of aviation alive. He was a long time member of the Keizer Radio Control Association and was instrumental in the development and completion of the Holden Bevens R/C flying field.
Bob is survived by his wife of 32 years, Jan Bevens, his children, Mike (Julie) Bevens and David (Melanie) Bevens. His siblings include Larry (Jan) Bevens of Salem and Dan (Donna) Bevens of Vancouver as well as 3 grandchildren, Jordyn (Ruben) Ybarra, Andrew (Rachael) Bevens, and Madeline Bevens, and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Floyd “Bill” Bevens and Mildred Bevens.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to your preferred charity. Bob had a great love of pets of all kinds and would appreciate your support to the local humane society.
