Cecelia Ann Shollenberger
August 19, 1923 - February 26, 2013
Albany - Cecelia Ann Shollenberger, 89, passed away Feb. 26 at Samaritan Evergreen Hospice House. She was born in Allentown, Pennsylvania and raised by her grandparents from the age of two with her four siblings. She met her husband, Richard, when she was with a group of friends visiting him in the hospital after a car accident. They recently celebrated 67 years of marriage.
When Richard accepted his first teaching job, they traveled across the states to Halfway, Oregon. Through the years, new teaching jobs took the family to Florence and to Oregon College of Education in Monmouth. Their retirement years were spent traveling throughout the United States and then establishing a residence in Palm Springs, Calif. Health issues eventually brought them back to Salem and then to Albany to live at Quail Run Assisted Living.
Cecelia is survived by her husband and daughters Pam Jensen (Dave) of Albany and Ann Steinmetz (Bill) of Salem, nine grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her daughter Jo.
A Rosary will be held Friday, March 8, 1 p.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 1:30 p.m., both at St. Joseph's Church on in Salem. A memorial service at Mennonite Village in Albany will be at a later date. Arrangements by Restlawn Funeral Home,
