SALEM - Craig D. Lindgren was born March 9th, 1955 in Aberdeen, SD to the late Roy Lindgren and Joyce Martinne Lindgren. He moved to Salem, OR when he was 2 years old. He attended McNary High School and graduated in 1973. While at McNary, he played drums in the stage and concert band. He had a high IQ and was in advanced AP classes for the talented graduating with a 4.0 grade point average. He played Center on the football team and was an All State Center. His coach said he could not understand how such a shy, gentle person could become a monster on the football field. He won the Breakfast Club Award and was awarded a scholarship for academics and football to Willamette University. His sophomore year he suffered a career ending broken leg injury and lost his scholarship. He joined the Air Force and became a medical specialist until discharged after learning of a serious service connected illness and became a 100% disabled veteran.
He enjoyed working on the yard, listening to the radio, and helping his mother.
He is survived by his mother, Martinne Lindgren, brothers Gary and Mark, sister Molly Mink, nieces Nicole, Britni, Maggie, and nephews Eric, Chaske', Joey, Kyle, and Troy.
Any donations can be made to the Cancer Association. Service will be held Wednesday, May 15th, 11 AM, at the Restlawn Funeral Home. Private interment at Restlawn Memory Gardens.
