Curtis Beal Zimmerman, was escorted into heaven on February 24th. He was born on July 26, 1936, to William and Winnifred Zimmerman, in Brookings, South Dakota, but spent most of his childhood in Salem, OR. He had 2 siblings, Bonnie Zimmerman {Stover), and Winton Zimmerman, both his parents and siblings have preceded him in death.
Curt joined the Navy not too long after graduating, and soon met the love of his life, Carol Marie Enderson, while stationed in California. They learned quickly they were born on the same day, same year, and same State, which seemed like a match for sure! After a blind date set up by their friends in November 1958; a quick romance, almost only through letters, they were married February 14, 1959 at South Salem Nazarene Church. They had many travels during this time, beginning in Astoria, also including Maryland and Italy, where they added their 2 children, Corey and Connie. They returned to and settled in Salem in 1963, and later they also cared for his Brother Winton's boys, Dolan and Michael, and they were welcomed into the family.
He was a respected Denturist, learning the trade in the Navy. He loved to sing and was part of the Wayfarers Quartet for many years. He loved to travel, backpack, fish, and camp in his RV's. He also loved to sail, and built a few boats when he was younger, one of them being a Trimaran Sailboat, that he enjoyed with his family. He loved spending time with friends and family, opening his home to many gatherings. He had a contagious smile and loved joking around. He was a devoted follower of Christ, and always willing and ready to help others when he could. Carol entered heaven in June 2017, and in September 2018, he remarried and spent the rest of his days with Sandra Rawie.
He is survived by Son, Corey Zimmerman; Daughter, Connie Zimmerman; Nephews, Dolan Zimmerman, Michael Zimmerman; 6 Grandchildren, Alan Nessl, Wendy Lane (Nessl), Evan Zimmerman Nicole Zimmerman, Daniel Zimmerman, Stephen Zimmerman; 1 Great Grandchild, Carter Nessl.
There will be a Celebration of Life service for Curt on April 19, at 11 am, to be held at Silverton Church of the Nazarene, 1130 S Water St, Silverton, Oregon. Refreshments will be served.
