On August 4, 2015, Dale Robert Fowler died suddenly in his home in Salem, Oregon. He was 66 years old.
Dale was born in Ferndale, Michigan on December 12, 1948. He was the middle of five children and graduated from Berkley High School in 1967. Before retiring, Dale worked as a pipefitter ("not a plumber!") and lived in many places around the country as he followed work. A member of the Pipefitters Local UA 85 in Saginaw, Michigan and 290 in Portland, Oregon, Dale took a lot of pride in his work, helping to build everything from oil refineries to microchip plants. His daughters fondly recall his free-wheeling, thrill-seeking parenting style that sometimes seemed reckless to their mother, but never actually got them seriously injured.
Dale was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Fowler, and his brother, Richard Allen. He is survived by his wife, Kathlynn (Grigsby) Fowler; daughters, Dharma Akmon (husband Devon Akmon) and Sonya Wardell (husband John Wardell); mother, Kathryn Michael; sisters, Sue Nault and Joan Chapman; brother, Jerry Fowler; and grandsons, Desmond and Simon Wardell.
Services will be held in Berkley, Michigan at a later date.
