David Ray VanWormer, peacefully passed away on April 27, 2024, in Salem, Oregon, at the age of 76. He was born on July 9, 1947, in Klamath Falls, Oregon.
David is survived by his brother, Thomas Dean VanWormer, and husband, Steven Groth of Santa Rosa, CA, and his sister, Linda VanWormer-Burch, and her husband, Bob Burch of Reno, NV. He is also survived by his loving daughter, Adriele, her husband Ben, and their three daughters Dominque, Valeria and Esther, and son, Holdyn. His son, David and his daughter, Elise, also mourn his passing, as does his former wife, Margery Morris, mother of Adriele and David. He is survived also by Elizabeth, her son Luca, Reuben and Abby. His loving mother, Barbara Ann VanWormer, and father, Raymond E. Van Wormer, who preceded him in death, are remembered fondly.
David's youth was spent hunting and fishing with his Dad. He joined the Boy Scouts and easily achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He had a quick wit and tested in the top 2% of the nation scholastically, excelling in math, German and playing Chess. He also found time to play football and basketball and was a member of the National Honor Society.
David attended Fort Klamath Elementary School, Chiloquin High School and graduated from North Salem High School Class of 1965, and he attended the University of Oregon where he studied Architecture.
He gave his heart to Jesus April 13,1971 and remained spiritual throughout his life.
Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, May 7th at 1:00 PM at Restlawn Funeral Home in Salem, Oregon.
