Elizabeth (Liz, Betty, Pet) Hoyser was born in Salem, Oregon to Milton Ferdinand & Agnes Lee Clark Hoyser. She grew up on the family farm on the Willamette River, where, upon retirement, she returned to the homestead and built her home. Liz graduated from North Salem High; she received her Bachelor degree from Oregon College of Education in 1953, her Masters from San Francisco St University in Education Guidance Counseling and her PhD from Oregon State University in 1971. She taught in the School of Education at Western Oregon University (formerly Western Oregon State College and Oregon College of Education) 1965-1988, she retired full Professor from Western Oregon University. Liz taught school in England, Germany and Guantanamo Bay Cuba and she loved to travel abroad, visiting such places in Europe, Egypt and Jerusalem. Liz was a member of Daughter of the Nile and Daughters of The American Revolution. The Oregon Coast and her beach house there was one of her favorite places for her and her family of nieces and grand- nieces, cracking crab, creating art projects and just enjoying each other.
Liz is proceed in death by her parents and bother. She is survived by a loving family of nieces, great-nieces, nephew and a great nephew and a host of great, great niece and nephews.
Services will be held at Restlawn Funeral Home 201 Oak Grove Rd Salem, Oregon on Tuesday November 12th 2013 at 11:00 am. Donation can be made in her honor to your local Alzheimer's Foundation.
