Elroy - Schlecht

One of 11 children born to Emil and Martha Schlecht in Fredonia, N.D., Elroy attended rural schools and entered the U.S. Army in 1958, receiving an honorable discharge in 1961. He worked as a brick mason until 1962 and soon after he married Marlys Schuldheisz. They moved to Salem and had three sons - Robert Wade, Jon Gregory, and Wesley Todd. Elroy worked and retired from Boise Cascade and then moved to Jefferson where he passed away from cancer in the presence of his family. Elroy is survived by two sisters, Shirley Netzer and Mildred Ytgard; four brothers, Dennis, Gary, Jerome and Steven. He was preceded in death by son, Jon; grandson, Justin; parents; brothers, Ervin "Buddy", Lloyd and Rodney; and sister, Teresa. Friends may view from 3 to 4 p.m. on Thursday, April 16 at Restlawn Funeral Home where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 17. Interment will follow in Restlawn Memory Gardens.
