Eva Jeanette Kessel was born on May 23, 1928 in Montevideo, Minnesota to Joseph and Alice Williams. The youngest of 5 children, Eva moved to Oregon when she was 9 years old and attended St. Vincent DePaul School and Sacred Heart Academy. Eva married James Kessel on July 16, 1947 at St. Vincent DePaul Church, where she was a parishioner for 85 years. Eva served as a member of the church’s Altar Society and Golden Years. She was very involved in putting on funeral luncheons, Sunday breakfasts and wedding receptions and also volunteered in the school library.
Eva passed on April 17, 2023 surrounded by family to join Jesus. She is predeceased by her parents Joseph and Alice Williams, husband James Kessel, whom she was married to for 42 years prior to his passing; brothers Raymond Williams and Floyd Williams; sisters Ethel Wilkerson and Fran Marshall; son Michael Kessel and granddaughter Amy Sandall.
Survivors include Peggy (Dennis) Cavanagh, Susan (Rodney) Sandall, Tim (Edie) Kessel all of Keizer and Randy Kessel of Vancouver, Washington. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren and extended family of nieces and nephews who remained close with Eva throughout her life.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 27th from 1:00p.m. – 4:00p.m. at Restlawn Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home. Rosary will be held on Friday, April 28th at 10:00 a.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Edwards Catholic Church located at 5303 River Rd. N., Keizer, Oregon.
