Evelyn Opal Hawkins

Evelyn Opal Hawkins February 22, 1938 - November 2, 2008 SALEM - Evelyn Opal Hawkins was born February 22, 1938 in Weslaco, Texas the daughter of George and Lucy Ostrander. She attended Cottrell School, north of Sandy, Ore. Her last schooling was 7th grade at Coalinga, Calif. She retired as a housekeeper at Best Western in Salem. She enjoyed gardening and reading good books. Survivors include husband, Harvey Hawkins of Salem; three children, Brenda Collins of Roseburg, Sarah Barrett of Winston, and David Johnson of Mt. Angel; 6 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren; also surviving are a brother, Wayne Ostrander of Salem; and sister, Joan Schwentker of Myrtle Creek; also nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Everett, Clarence, and Nancy. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, November 7 at Restlawn Funeral Home in Salem. Interment will follow in Restlawn Memory Gardens.
