Fern K. Cummings

SALEM - Fern K. Cummings of Salem passed away at home after 88 wonderful years; she was surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in Rexburg, Idaho, to Joseph Albert Kingsford and Lucy Ellen Aldous. She was the seventh of ten children. She married George Glenn Cummings on February 22, 1936 in Coos Bay. They moved from Reedsport to Salem in 1942 with their two daughters, Carol Wyatt and Donna Anderson. While living in Salem, they had a son, Bryan James Cummings. Fern was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints. She was preceded in death by her parents, all nine of her siblings, her son, and after 52 years of marriage, her loving husband George passed away in 1988. She is survived by her daughters, Carol Wyatt of Salem and Donna and her husband, Dean Anderson of Mesa, Arizona. She has eleven grandchildren, nine living; 40 great-grandchildren, 37 living; and four great-great-grandchildren, with one more on the way; and her beloved dog, Sophie. The viewing will be held from 12:30 to 1:20 p.m., with the service to follow, on Friday, October 5 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 1375 Lockhaven Dr. NE, Keizer. There will be a previous viewing from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, October 4 at Restlawn Funeral Home, 201 Oak Grove Rd. NW., Salem.
