Fred J. Lea passed peacefully into the arms of his loving Lord on a beautiful, Friday August 2nd morning. Fred was born in Spiro, Oklahoma on the 8th of September 1926 to William and Amanda Lea.
The oldest of four children, he is survived by his youngest brother James D. Lea. He married his high school sweetheart at Salem High, Ernestine Faye Flake in 1944 and the young couple moved to San Diego where he served as a corpsman in the US Navy. They moved back to Oregon after Fred's honorable discharge and settled in Lake Labish. Fred and Ernestine have three children, sons Steven Fred of Rogue River, Oregon, Donald Harvey of Oregon City and daughter Alicia Carol of Camano Island, Washington. Fred and Ernestine have four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Fred worked as a salesman for Wonderbread until going into business for himself as a distributor of wholesale snacks and was a pioneer of the snack vending industry in Salem. Fred loved being with his friends and family whether it was fishing, boating, racing, horse shows or ballgames. Fred was dedicated to his God, family, friends and church.
Graveside Services with military honors will be on August 24th, at 1 PM at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, with Memorial Service to follow at Willamette Lutheran Home Chapel.
In lieu of flowers the family wishes donations to Lamb of God Lutheran Church, 2791 Inca Dr. Lake Havasu City, Arizona 86406. Arrangements entrusted to Restlawn Funeral Home.
