George Henry Baldwin

September 24, 1931 — June 6, 2016

George Henry Baldwin, a life long Keizer resident, passed away peacefully June 6th from complications of COPD.
He was born in Aumsville, OR on Sept 24, 1931 to John and Sarah Baldwin, who had emigrated from Wales, UK., in the early 1920's. George grew up on the family farm, off Windsor Island Rd, raising cattle and crops with his family and also working on neighboring farms in the area. He attended Keizer grade school and later North Salem high. After school he began his 35 plus year career with Boise Cascade, retiring from the shipping department in December of 1992. During this time he met Violet, they were married January of 1956 and together they raised 4 children. George enjoyed spending time with his family, teaching them how hunt and fish, he also helped out with Scouting and sports. He was a man of many talents, passing on his many skills and his love of anything on 2 or 4 wheels.
After retirement, he started doing what he loved, restoring antique tractors and competing in tractor pull competitions with the "59er"s Tractor Club. George was a founding member and Trustee of the Keizer Eagles, and also enjoyed attending the Keizer Kids Club meeting that were held several times a year.
Survivors include his wife Violet; children, Terry (Pam) Baldwin of Salem; Kerry Baldwin of Lebanon, OR; Glennda Phillips of Puyallup, WA; Tracey (Mick) of Clatskania, OR; sister, Barbara Knighton of Keizer, OR; grandchildren, Tiffany (Travis) Buitron of Beaverton, OR; Sarah (Ryan) Friesen of Salem, OR; Ryan Phillips of Puyallup, WA; Christina Phillps of Puyallup, WA.; and Kyle Phillip of Puyallup,WA.; and 4 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to especially thank Comfort Care Homes and Willamette Valley Hospice for their wonderful care and support these last few weeks.
