Glenn Richard Johnson

March 5, 1983 — July 4, 2014

(Glenn) Richard Johnson passed away gently, at home, on Friday July 4th after a brief illness. Richard was born in Salem on March 5, 1983. He graduated from Sprague High School in 2001 and attended Central Oregon Community College in Bend.

He was a gifted computer technician and website developer who had a vast knowledge of anything electronic or computer related. He worked for several computer companies, including as a supervisor for the Geek Squad at Best Buy. He was very generous with his knowledge and time, and helped numerous friends and family by building and fixing their computers and helping them learn how to use them. He was always happy to share his knowledge and was a "go to guy" for anyone wanting to buy a computer, TV, etc. A remarkably kind, admirable and loving person, he adored animals and children. He will be remembered for his infectious laugh and his giving nature. Richard had an incredible mind and a love of information. His knowledge of history, politics and science was amazing. He loved hiking, snowboarding, water sports, camping, travelling, and especially, his family and many loyal and lifelong friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Glenn and Marian Wisser, and Byron and Arlie Mae Johnson.

He is survived by his parents, Garnet and Wallace Long and David Johnson, brothers Ross and Barrett Johnson and Harris Long, and steadfast friends, Jeff Etzel and Jonathan Arras. Richard was very loved and in his short time on this earth he affected many lives and made the world a better place. He will be greatly missed. Celebration of life will be held Sunday, July 13, 2014 at 1:00 pm at 1225 Acacia Dr. S. Salem. Private interment Stipp Cemetery in Macleay. Contributions may be made to the Willamette Valley Humans Society. Arrangements by Restlawn Funeral Home.
