Grace Lowe (Hallauer)

November 18, 1928 — January 6, 2019

Grace was born in Watertown, South Dakota to Mabel and Ernest Hallauer. As a young child growing up during the Great Depression, her family relocated to Oregon. She grew up on a farm on Fern Hill near Cornelius and graduated from Forest Grove High School. She married Carthel (Gene) Lowe in 1950 and three children followed.
Through the years she worked in the grocery business with Gene, living in various locations in Oregon, Washington, and California. She also worked for First National Bank, which later became First Interstate Bank, as a branch secretary in several locations in Salem,Vancouver, and Portland. They eventually settled back in Salem during their retirement years. Gene passed away in 2002. Most recently Grace moved to Sublimity to be closer to family.
Grace was known for her amazing green thumb and always had a stunning flower garden no matter where she lived. She enjoyed traveling, cruising the world, and golfing. Grace was kind, generous, and most importantly had a steadfast faith in Christ Jesus. She was very active in the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod.
She is survived by her daughters, Debbi (Jim) Oeltjen of Sublimity, and Kristen Lowe of Beaverton, as well as 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gene, brother Lowell Hallauer, and son Randy Lowe.
Celebration of Life will be held January 18, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church in Stayton. Private family interment will be at Restlawn Memory Gardens in Salem.
