Ha Truong was born in China in 1929, and moved to Vietnam as a boy. As the eldest son of 11 kids, he worked at a young age to support his family. With his dad, he started various companies. He married Anh and together, they had 11 children. Ha learned resilience through hardship. He lost his eldest son at age three due to an illness. After the Vietnam unification, he and his family left Vietnam by boat and ended up in a Malaysian refugee camp. After a year and half, Ha and his family reunited with his mother and two siblings in Salem, Oregon. Ha worked at a restaurant in downtown Salem until he retired. Ha enjoyed watching Chinese opera and gardening. He is loved and greatly missed by Anh, his wife of over 70 years, and honored by 10 children, 27 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. He is survived by his two closest siblings, Toan and Hue, and relatives in California, Texas, and Vietnam. He is remembered as a man with a forgiving nature and enduring smile.
