Harmon Grant Wilson

INDEPENDENCE – Harmon Grant Wilson, 86, joined his Heavenly father on Wednesday,
August 27, 2022.
Harmon was born on March 4, 1936 on Popcorn Hill in West Salem, OR. He was born to
George Harmon Grant and Mildred Marie (Simmons) Wilson, both of whom have predeceased him.
He married Marjorie J. Graham on September 28, 1957 in Salem. He lived most of his life in the Salem-Keizer, OR area, with a brief few years in Dallas, OR.
He was a member for many years of Judson Baptist Church, Salem, serving wherever he was needed and mowing the lawn regularly at the church. He was also active in the church services at the facility in which he lived and enjoyed participating in Bingo games, arts & crafts and welcoming new people. He grew up on the family farm, worked at a gas station in West Salem, delivered fuel oil in Dallas, OR, and returned to farming in later years until an accident left him disabled. He also drove the school bus for a Christian school in Keizer. He had many interests. He enjoyed helping people wherever/whenever he could, many types of music, playing Pinochle, cartoons and checkers with his eldest grandson, putting smiles on others’ faces, playing musical spoons and Bingo games.
Survivors include his daughter Terri (Philip) Austin of Salem, OR; son Ken (Heather) Wilson of Canby, OR. His greatest joy was his three grandchildren: Steven Austin of Salem, OR, McKenna (Dominic) Shorter of Portland, OR and Logan Wilson of Canby, OR. He is also survived by his brother Eddie L. (Judy) Wilson of Salem, an extended family of cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great great nieces, great great nephews, as well as many friends. His first wife and best friend, Marjorie (Graham) Wilson predeceased him in October 1982, and his sister Doris (Wilson) Johnson predeceased him in August 1998.
All services will be held at Restlawn Memory Gardens, 201 Oak Grove Rd., Salem, OR 97304. A Celebration of Life service will begin at 11:00am, Wednesday, September 14, 2022. Prior to the Celebration of Life service, a brief viewing will be held from 10:00am to 10:50 am. Refreshments will be served in the Reception Hall following the service.
