On Monday, December 26, 2022, Helen Elizabeth Knox a beloved step mother, sister and wife
exited this world at the age of 75. Born August 20, 1947, in Seattle Washington to Buster and
Rosemary Wagoner. Helen graduated from Seattle’s Bishop Blanchet High School in 1965, later
attending the University of Washington. She pursued a career of Customer Service for most of
her life. She was a great friend to her four stepchildren and an outstanding wife to her
cherished husband, Jim Knox.
Helen had a passion for gardening, she loved spending time in her garden and creating a
beautiful vista of flowers and plants. Weather permitting, she would spend 6 to 8 hours daily
gardening. Often heard by neighbors singing along with her music player while in her garden, to
the popular music of the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s.
Helen had other passions. An avid crafter, she had an admirable collection of crocheted hats
and scarfs. In her travels from coast to coast, she rarely passed an opportunity to collect her
‘gem’ rocks. Many ended up in her garden or in homes of friends. She was very creative and
liked working with metals.
In her travels, a favorite fun thing was river rafting. She loved the beaches of Florida. She lived
there over 30 years.
Space exploration was always of interest. Especially with a grandson working on the Dragon
spacecraft that takes astronauts to the International Space Station. She was so proud of that
young man.
Helen became a big fan of TV viewing of golf, college football and pro football. She and Jim
spent their Saturday and Sundays watching these sports. Gave them both time to forget
politics.
Lastly Helen’s passion for reading was never satisfied, especially when the weather did not
permit her gardening. Favorites were mostly novels, novels of all time periods.
Helen is survived by her beloved husband, Jim Knox; her stepchildren David Peterson, Holly
Singhoffen, Jeannie Renteria and Lisa Harvey, grandchildren, Josh Peterson, Austin Renteria, AJ
Renteria, and Chase Singhofen. Great grandchildren, Ryder Renteria, Eli Renteria, and Leopold (Leo).
Five siblings, John Wagoner, Catherine Nance, Barbara Jones, Dorothy Parsons, and
Margaret Garrison; and three generations of nieces and nephews.
She will be greatly missed by her dearest friends. Lana Ritter, Sharon Holstegen, Virginia
Hertruself from West Salem, Oregon, and Brian and Jill McNerney from Lake Oswego, Oregon.
Rather than flowers or gifting, Jim and the family prefer, those inclined, to donate to Wounder Warriors.
