James “Jim” Raymond Phillips, 89 was born June 5, 1931 in Stapleton, Nebraska.
He passed away peacefully on October 9, 2020 at his home in Salem, OR with his family by his side. Jim served in the United State Army from April 10, 1952 to March 12, 1954. Jim was a Singaleer with the Signal Corps. Jim fought in the Korean War and was awarded the National Defense Service Metal, United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal and was awarded the Bronze Service Star for his service in the Korean War. Jim loved the outdoors. Jim enjoyed going gold prospecting, rock hounding, mushroom hunting, hunting and target shooting. He also liked going to airshows. Jim is survived by his wife Alice Phillips of 35 years, daughter Debbie Lathrop of Silverton, OR, and sons Scott Stewart of Eugene, OR and Eric Stewart of Salem, OR, 9 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
