June 18, 1943 - February 2, 2008
SILVERTON - Jean Sandstrum, 64, passed peacefully on February 2, 2008 in her Silverton, Oregon home surrounded by her family. Jean had an aggressive form of stomach and liver cancer. Jean a beautiful wife, loving mother and grandmother was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1943 to Adam and Dorothy Follman, she was one of six children. Jean was an active member of her church and community, reaching out to those in need and using her gift for singing to praise God and comfort others. Jean was a member of Aglow, a Christian Women's club since the mid 70's. She was also a member of Stonecroft Ministries which is affiliated with Mount Angel Silverton Women's Connection. Jean sold Mary Kay products for many years, winning awards along the way. Her favorite position in life was as a Sunday school teacher, teaching little ones to "Take time to be holy". Jean is survived by her husband of 40 years, Robert "Bob" Sandstrum; daughter, Christine Keller of Las Vegas, Nev.; sons, Chuck Gunzel of Seabeck, Wash. and Matthew Sandstrum of Salem, Ore. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Michelle Penner in 2005. Jean will be missed dearly by all of her family and friends. Her life will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at Peoples Church, 4500 Lancaster Dr. NE, Salem, Oregon. Reception following at the church.
