On May 20, 2009, her 88th birthday, surrounded by her devoted family, Jeannette Coffin passed peacefully away. She was born in LaFollette, Tennessee, but lived most of her life in Redondo Beach, California and Salem, Oregon. Jeannette will always be remembered as a faithful wife to her loving husband, Frank, who predeceased her in 2000. She was also predeceased by her son, Donald; her mother, Rita Case; her stepfather, Dan Case; her father, Sillis Smith; and her sisters, Bonnie Logan, Charlene Brady, and Onita Fletcher. Jeannette was a dedicated mother and a great cook and seamstress. She was also a hardworking business owner and property manager. Disregarding personal sacrifice, she was always there to back up her family in whatever way she could, and lived to see her efforts blossom into a large and active family. Jeannette is survived by her children, Janice Coffin Wiesen of Bellevue, Wash., Vaughn Coffin of Salem, Ore., Dr. Rita Coffin Hill of Forest Grove, Ore., Curtis Coffin of Salem, Ore.; and sisters-in-law, Esther McGee of Salem, Ore. and Norma Ziegler of Lakewood, Calif. She had twelve grandchildren, and an ever growing number of great-grandchildren. Jeannette held a prominent position in the Coffin family, and will never be forgotten. Members of the family will privately celebrate Jeannette's long and active life. Remembrances may be made to Willamette Valley Hospice.
