John David Jongeling was born on October 31,1946 to John and Irene Jongeling of Castlewood, S.D. They moved to Pedee, OR in 1950, where John attended grade school, graduating from Dallas High School in 1964. John enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving as a corpman in Vietnam ( Da Nang hospital) for several months. John was employed at Salem Hospital for 35 years in many areas, as a CNA. John received a kidney transplant in 1986, problem-free until 2019, then starting weekly dialysis. John had many interests/hobbies such as oil painting, photography, travel, music, VW autos, and dine-outs with family and a wide circle of friends John was preceded in death by parents John and Irene, plus 4 aunts and 3 uncles. John is survived by two sisters, Paula Davis, Keizer, OR (Keith, Kevin, Kerry, Kyle, Kelly and Karna) and Pam Lawson (Chuck), Coeur d' Alene, ID (David, Jeff, Brenda and Greg)--a total of 10 nieces and nephews. Also surviving is John's first cousin, Joe McMahon (Kathy) of Canby, OR. and their 2 daughters. Graveside service with military honors will be Wednesday, September 8, at 10 AM with reception to follow, masks required for indoors. Gifts in memoriam will go to the American Kidney Foundation.
