It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Johnathan Lipai, a beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend, who left this world on March 10, 2025, at the age of 54. Born on January 29, 1971, in Kolonia, Pohnpei, in the Federated States of Micronesia, Johnathan's journey through life was marked by love, generosity, and an unwavering commitment to his family and community.
Johnathan was the cherished son of Yasuo Lipai and Margaita Olmos Lipai. He grew up surrounded by love and support, values that he carried with him throughout his life. He was a proud graduate of Ohwa Christian High School and later attended Chemeketa Community College. His commitment to education was evident in his professional life, where he served as a Direct Crisis Support Specialist for the State of Oregon. His dedication to helping others was not just a job; it was a reflection of his character. He was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
In the summer of 1991, Johnathan met the love of his life, Melanie. Their bond grew strong, leading to a marriage that lasted almost 33 beautiful years. Together, they created a loving home filled with laughter, compassion, and unforgettable memories. Johnathan was a devoted father to their four children: Gohan, Keona, Kaleb, and Kyron Lipai. He instilled in them the values of kindness, resilience, and the importance of family. His role as a husband and father was one that he cherished deeply, and he was the best husband, father, son, and brother anyone could imagine.
Johnathan's warmth and positivity extended beyond his family. He was an active member of his community, involved with organizations like Every Home for Christ and People's Church. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, guiding him in his interactions with others and in his service to those in need.
Outside of his professional and community commitments, Johnathan had a zest for life that was infectious. He loved camping adventures, crabbing with family, and engaging in spirited card games that would often end in laughter and stories that would be recounted for years to come. His ability to bring people together and create joyful memories is a testament to his character.
Johnathan is survived by his beloved wife, Melanie Lipai; their four children, Gohan, Keona, Kaleb, and Kyron; His grandbaby, Nae'lanni and his devoted mother, Margarita Olmos Lipai. He is also survived by his siblings, Johnny, Mike, Valerio, Franson, Alik, Fred, Joiceleen, and Jenceleen, who will forever hold his memory in their hearts.
Johnathan leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and service that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
A visitation and reception will be held in honor of Johnathan on Sunday, March 16th, from 10:00 AM through the evening at 12730 Kirkwood Rd NW, Salem, OR. His graveside service will be held on Monday, March 17th, at 1:00 PM at Restlawn Memory Gardens, located at 201 Oak Grove Rd NW, Salem.
Johnathan Lipai will forever be remembered for his unwavering love, his compassionate spirit, and his dedication to helping others. May he rest in peace, knowing he has left an indelible mark on the lives of those who loved him.
