Joy Orcherton passed away November 8, 2021 at the age of 86 after a short courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest.
Joy was born to Henry and Cora Lovell on February 21, 1935 in Monroe, Arkansas. Joy married the first love of her life Bill Aunspaugh in 1952. Together with their two young children, Kathy and Dan they moved to Salem, Oregon. After Bill’s death in 1973, Joy met the second love of her life Earl Orcherton and they married in 1975. Joy was not only blessed by Earl but also Carol, Earl’s teenage daughter.
Joy worked at Agripac cannery from 1968 until her retirement. She was a seasonal worker and advanced to floor supervisor. Joy was well respected for her work ethic and her organizational skills.
Active at West Salem Baptist Church for over 50 years, she was cherished for her dedication to the Lord Jesus Christ and her work on the social committee where she would help create delicious meals to celebrate events.
Joy will be remembered for her sense of wit and humor. Her smile that could light a room. The simplest pleasures in life brought her great joy: a trip to the beach, canning pickles with family, eating out, playing Yahtzee etc. We are each blessed with those precious activities that we shared and treasure the memories.
