Joyce Charlotte (Reinke) Jensen
3-16-1932 to 1-19-2015
Joyce Charlotte Jensen was born March 16, 1932 in Tyler, MN to the late Arthur and Luella Reinke. She grew up on the family farm northwest of Tyler, with a sister and four brothers. She went to grade school at Marshfield School and graduated from Tyler High School in 1949 and on July 15, 1949 she married Arnold J. Jensen.
While living in Tyler, Joyce worked first as a waitress at the Chat-n-Chew Cafe and then as a bookkeeper for the Tyler Journal newspaper. In 1952 their son, Lonnie, was born. Joyce and Arnold bought the Farmer's Produce in 1955 where Joyce was the bookkeeper and chief egg grader. In 1963 Joyce was done with the frigid winters and the family moved to Salem, OR. Joyce immediately went to work at the regional State Farm Insurance Office and stayed with them until her retirement in 1988.
Joyce was quite an athlete and while in Minnesota played softball every summer with the Tyler Tornados. She played shortstop and had many home runs to her credit. She was always ready for a game of bowling, horseshoes or a hike. Joyce and Arnold spent their retirement traveling in their motor home, collecting rocks and enjoying the sunshine. Joyce loved animals and always had at least one fuzzy companion with her throughout her life. She enjoyed spending time with her granddaughters and seeing her great grandchildren.
Two brothers, Glen Reinke and Jerry Reinke, and her sister, Delrose Petersen, preceded Joyce in death. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Arnold, and her son, Lonnie (Margo), of Salem; granddaughters, Erin (Tyler) Radniecki of Corvallis, OR and Laura (Rick) Kittelson of Dallas, OR; great grandchildren Cory and Molly Kittelson and Mason Radniecki; brothers Gene (Patty) Reinke and Ronald (Jane) Reinke; sisters-in-law Joyce Reinke (Stayton) and Marcy Reinke (Silverton).
