Kenneth J Ward, Surrounded by his wife and children, passed away peacefully of Parkinson on Thursday, September 22, 2022 at the age of 90. Everyone knew him as "Ken". He was born on July 21, 1932 to John and Doris Ward in Mauston, Wisconsin. At an early age his family moved to Oregon. He graduated from Cascade High School. Ken worked at the Plywood Mill in Aumsville. Later he worked at the Post Office in Salem for 30 years.
Ken joined the National Guard and was sent to Presidio, California for cooking school. He was famous for his cinnamon rolls and kuchen. He also was a great gardener, he loved his roses and flowers.
They moved to Arizona to enjoy the sun in the winter and in Sisters, Oregon during the summer. There Ken did a lot of hiking and exploring. After 14 years it was time to move back to Oregon to be close to family. He is survived by his wife Virginia (Jean) of 69 years, 2 children; Son Jerry Ward, his wife Debbie Ward; Daughter Nancy Bassett, her husband Darrell Bassett; grandson Ryan Bassett; Granddaughter Stacy Pickett, her husband Zach Pickett and their children Lilly Pickett and Jackson Pickett; Sisters Lois Tanner, Dianne Gjesdale and brother Allan Ward.
