Larry was born in Lawerence, NE to Steve & Fern Jurgensmeier After high school, Larry went to school for steam and pipe fitting. He then joined the U.S. Navy in 1961, and served until 1964. After his ischarge from the Navy, he began his steam/pipefitting career. Larry worked with Local 347, becoming a member in 1969. He became the business agent for Local 290 in January of 1988, retiring May 1, 2003. Larry was married to Carol Moyer from 1966 to 1983. He married Ada Jurgensmeier on Dec. 28, 1985.
His many hobbies included, camping, archery hunting, crabbing, fishing, cooking, welding, gardening and spending time with family.
Larry had a particular way of doing things known as "The Jurgensmeier Way." His dream was to own a fishing boat and spend his days on the ocean.
Survivor's include his wife, Ada; daughters, Sallie (Susan) Jurgensmeier, Jackie Reagor, Tawny (Tomas) Jurgensmeier, and Latoya Jurgensmeier; sons, Michael Himebaugh, Ben Jurgensmeier, & Troy Graham; grandchildren, Shaila Reagor, Tiannah Reagor, Tony Reagor, Mike Himebaugh, Jr., & Alyssa Himebaugh; great-grandchildren, Nevaeh Jurgensmeier, Delsin Meza, Skylynn Chapman, & Melina Segura; a brother, Ron Jurgensmeier (Mary), and a sister, Julene Haunsman, niece, Shari Meyer (Kent), and nephew, Gary Jurgensmeier.
A viewing will be held from 2 until 4 p.m. Friday, May 12, 2017 and at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 13, until the 1 p.m. funeral service begins at Restlawn Funeral Home. A reception will follow the service. Directions to reception will be given at the service.
