LaVerta May Townsend Laverta May Townsend May 13, 1927 - August 30, 2008 SALEM - Laverta died peacefully on August 30, 2008 surrounded by her family. She was born May 13, 1927 to Alvia and Leona Paul in Mitchell, South Dakota. She moved with her family to Salem in 1939. She married Elwood E. Townsend on June 1, 1943, he preceeded her in death in 1970. She is survived by her sons, Marty Townsend (Pamela) and Randy Townsend; and daughters, Debby Miller (Tony) and Karen Nelson; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Any donations may be made to the Willamette Valley Hospice. At her request, no services will be held. Arrangements are in care of Restlawn Funeral Home in Salem.
