Leon Arthur Stormo Leon Arthur Stormo December 27, 1932 - August 22, 2008 AUMSVILLE - Leon Arthur Stormo was born December 27, 1932 in Castlewood, S.D. to Arthur and Mildred Stormo, the 4th child of 7. He moved to Woodburn in 1951 with his parents and two brothers. Leon started with Oregon State Hwy. in 1953 with paint crew, later transferred to Traffic Signal Unit where he worked his way up to manager. He retired April 1990. Leon met Clara Hunsaker in 1952, married July 11, 1954 in Hubbard. They lived in Salem 25 years and then built a house in rural Aumsville. They also built a barn and workshop where Leon would build furniture for family. he also enjoyed raising cattle for 26 years. He was a member of Salem Men's Bowling Assoc. and the Salem Elks Lodge for 27 years. Leon was preceded in death by his parents of Portland; and two sisters of S.D. He is survived by wife, Clara; daughter, Virginia and her husband James Burrows, Jr. of Salem; and son, Glenn and his wife Solveig of Monmouth. He also leaves five grandsons, Shawn Goerke and wife Sara of Wash., Ian Stormo of Stayton, Espen, Jonah, and Gunnar Stormo of Monmouth; and three great-grandchildren of Wash.; two step-granddaughters; and three step great-grandchildren; also four brothers, Mervin and wife Viola, Alvin and wife Pat all of Portland, Larry and wife Marcy of Salem, and Tery and wife Kae of Gilmer, Texas; also two brothers-in-law, George Barkley and Wayne Adams of Watertown, S.D. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, August 29 at Restlawn Funeral Home, 201 Oak Grove Rd. NW., Salem.
