Lola Rae Musil, 78, of Salem, Oregon passed away on September 6th at Salem Health Hospital. She was a member of Family Life Church.
Lola Rae was born in Dallas, Oregon. She was the daughter of Harold and Florence Selby and the youngest of four siblings, Melvin, Gordon and Lois.
Lola grew up in Dallas, Oregon. After graduating high school, she attended college one year in San Francisco then began missionary work in Arizona and Mexico. It was in Arizona that Lola met Larry Musil who was on leave from the Navy. Lola and Larry married on November 3, 1961 in Dallas, Oregon and left for bible school at Bethany in Santa Cruz, California. During the time Larry attended bible school, Lola received her nursing diploma from Cabrillo College.
After graduation, the family moved to Oregon. Lola worked as a Licensed Vocational Nurse for several years at Salem Memorial Hospital in the Intensive Care Unit. She was medically retired in her mid-thirties due to rheumatoid arthritis.
Lola began ministering to children and youth at the age of 14. She was Sunday school teacher, children’s church pastor, youth leader and young adult’s pastor. Although all these positions were volunteer, she gave her time and energy as if this was her full time job.
In her spare time, Lola volunteered as Girl Scout leader for her daughter’s troupe, birth coach to unwed mothers, and worked in her church food bank. She was also an avid gardener. For Lola, there was no such thing as too many flowers.
Most of all Lola loved people. Her desire was to love others as Jesus loved.
Lola is survived by her three daughters, Teresa Musil, Lalonda Hansen, Carla Kleint and their spouses and five grandchildren.
Services will be held at Family Life Church in Salem, Oregon on Saturday, September 22nd at 10 am.
