M. Leota Klein

December 18, 1919 — September 10, 2014

Leota was born to Edward and Gladys Olson on December 18, 1919, in Gregory County, South Dakota. The eldest of three daughters, she was predeceased by her parents and her sisters, Louise Wardrip and Violet Suchy. She married Elwin J. "Al" Klein in South Dakota and they moved to Vancouver, Washington, then Salem, Oregon where they settled for life. Al passed away in 1978.

Leota leaves her three daughters, Karen Momyer (Jim), Linda Doerfler, Sandra Ellston; grandchildren Kathy Hossner (Steve), Mary Dittman (Jon), Mike Doerfler (Amy), and Nancy Doerfler; and 8 great-grandchildren.

Always committed to community, Leota served others in United Methodist Women, Church Women United, Food Bank, Meals on Wheels, and was active in the lives of her children and school affairs. She was a long time member of Jason Lee United Methodist Church.

Leota was a lively resident of Willamette Lutheran Retirement Community until 2010 when she moved to Cedar Village Assisted Living. A favorite of all her caregivers, she never lost her sense of humor or her cheerful disposition and was always ready with a smile.

Special thanks go to the loving and caring staff at Cedar Village who took care of her daily needs for the past 4 years.

Services will be Monday, September 15, 2014 at 1:00 pm in the chapel at Restlawn Memory Gardens, 201 Oak Grove Road, NW, Salem, OR.
