What a life! Professor, printer, author. A true renaissance man. A force of nature. He had so many interests. Born in rural NE Oklahoma. Raised on a tenant farm. Fourth child, first boy in a family of 11 children. Left home at age 15 to learn the printing trade which he practiced for 25 years. He could read copy upside down and backwards. Drafted into the Army during WWII; he served as a printer on the Stars and Stripes Army newspaper in Altdorf by Nuremberg, Germany. After many years as a printer, he graduated with great distinction from San Jose State University. A full fellowship brought him to U of O where he earned an M.A.. and Ph.D. in Sociology. Taught Sociology for 21 years at California State University, Los Angeles. After retiring he returned to heaven (aka Oregon) to fish, golf, travel. He and Sharon set foot on all seven continents. He attended ICL at Willamette University for 25 years. A wonderful husband. A loving and proud father, stepfather, grandfather, and great grandfather. He touched so many lives.. He was 94.
