Marjorie Nelson McKay passed away peacefully on September 23, 2024. Born on December 20, 1935, in Gross, Nebraska, to Roy and Ida (Rust) Nelson, Marjorie spent her childhood in both Gross, Nebraska and Dallas, Oregon. She graduated from Dallas High School and went on to attend Linfield College for a year.
Marjorie married Harlan David McKay, and together they raised three children during their 17 years of marriage. Her professional journey led to a career with Merrill Lynch, where she worked her way up to become a successful stockbroker. After training in New York and earning her broker's license, Marjorie dedicated her career to helping clients plan for their futures.
An active member of Toastmistress, Marjorie thrived in leadership and public speaking roles. She also dedicated many years to Living Hope Fellowship, where her faith in Jesus was the driving force of her life. Marjorie's heart for missions extended to both the U.S. and Africa, supporting missionaries and sharing her faith with others.
She was a lover of the arts, enjoying ceramics, machine embroidery, and knitting. Her adventurous spirit led her to explore all seven continents, with Africa holding a special place in her heart. A balloon ride over Mount Kilimanjaro and a month-long missionary trip to Cameroon were among the highlights of her travels.
Above all, Marjorie loved her family deeply and brought light and joy to every room she entered. She was bubbly, vivacious, and had a contagious energy. Her unwavering faith in Jesus was central to her life, and she was a woman of prayer, great faith, and immense generosity. Surrounded by family at the time of her passing, Marjorie's legacy of love and faith lives on.
An avid sports fan, especially of the Indy 500, Marjorie's loud and joyful cheers-"Way to gooooooooo!"-will forever be remembered by her family. She also leaves behind cherished sayings, like "I love you a whole kit and kaboodle" and "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord."
Marjorie is survived by her children: David McKay (Karen), Dana Williford, and Sean McKay; her sister, Ruthanne Whitely; ten grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
