Mary Lou (Bolliger) Blazek Smith passed away at her home in Keizer, OR on September 17, 2015. Born in Boise, ID on March 12, 1944, she was the second of six children born to Pocatello's Robert Bolliger and Karen (Wennstrom) Bolliger. After graduating from Pocatello High School in 1962 Mary Lou lived in Guam, and then in Walla Walla WA where she began working in the new field of nuclear medicine. Her expertise in this field led her to Olympia, WA and then to Salem, OR where she worked in the Oregon Department of Energy, rising to the position of Nuclear Safety Administrator. Mary Lou was also a passionate and accomplished dancer and a great supporter of the arts. She is survived by her children Teri Pitts and Jason Blazek; her siblings Bill Bolliger, Pete Bolliger, and Trish Egan; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A celebration of her life will be held October 3rd at Chemeketa Eola (215 Doaks Ferry Rd. NW, Salem OR 97304) at 1:00 PM. All attendees are invited to wear hats. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be sent to the Oregon Cultural Trust.
