Mary Cooper

- Mary Louise Cooper, 82, of Salem, OR, passed away on April 30th, 2023. Mary was born June 21, 1940, in Rickreall, OR. She graduated from Central High School in Independence, OR in 1958. After high school she attended OCE. In December of 1958, she married Aaron Cooper. The couple moved to Germany whereAaron was stationed in the Army. They returnedto Oregon in 1962 where they spent the majorityof their 64 years together living in Salem. In 1964,Mary began her 30 year career with Sears. Shewas hired as a switchboard operator and retiredas Assistant Manager. Mary’s passions includedher family, international travel, gardening andsunsets viewed from the window of their condoat Depoe Bay. Mary is preceded in death by herparents, Gerald and Victoria Freeman, sister JuneJackson, brother Jerry Freeman and grandsonChristian Abshire. Mary is survived by her loving husband, Aaron, their children Cathy Abshire(Tim), Rocky Cooper (Teri), 5 grandchildren and 8great grandchildren. She is also survived by siblingsPat McLeod (Dennis) and Gene Freeman (Mary).The family will be hosting a Celebration of LifeOpen House at Paradise Island Park’s RecreationRoom at 3100 Turner Rd. SE, Salem, OR on Saturday, June 17, 2023, between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00p.m. Refreshments will be provided.
