Norma Jean Sohn | Visit Guest Book Norma Jean Sohn March 1, 1929 - July 21, 2010 SALEM - Norma Jean Main was born March 1, 1929 in Santa Rosa, California. She moved to Oregon to live with her grandparents and aunts in grade school. She was raised in Jefferson and Salem, Oregon. She graduated from Salem High School in 1947 and from OHSU with a Nursing Degree in 1950. She worked at Salem General Hospital for 5 years and for Oregon State Hospital for 28 years as a Registered Nurse and Supervisor. Norma Jean met Richard Gale Sohn in 1949 while they both were working at Salem General. They were married at Court Street Christian Church on August 17, 1951, where she attended church for 70 years. They would have been married for 59 years next month! They had two children, Karen Abigail and Matt Gale. They lived in Salem and Dallas, Oregon. Norma was an avid swimmer and enjoyed golf, traveling, baking, jigsaw and crossword puzzles, gardening, reading and knitting. She shared her handmade creations with family, friends and the Crisis Center in Salem. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi and TOPS organizations. She is survived by her husband, Dick now in Corvallis; daughter, Karen Allen of Corvallis; grandsons, Justin Malo of Albany, Ryan Malo and his wife, Jessica now in Big Lake, Alaska with three great-grandchildren, Tanner (11), Gillyan (8) and Mikkayla (5). Services will be at Restlawn Memory Gardens, 201 Oak Grove Road NW Salem (Hwy 22 west of Salem) the 30th of July at 2 p.m. Norma Jean will be forever remembered by family and friends as a good wife, loving mother, caring nurse and thoughtful friend.
