Patricia L. Sawyer

June 10, 1929 — July 6, 2020

Patricia "Patty" Lee Sawyer went home to be with the Lord on July 6th, 2020 at Dallas Retirement Village in Dallas, OR. She was predeceased by her husband Richard E. Sawyer, who she married on September 10th, 1947, and remained faithfully devoted to for almost 63 years until his passing in August 2009.

Patty was born on June 10th, 1929 in Dallas, OR to Harvey Dell Bradley and Nina Louise Bartruff. She graduated from Salem High School. From there, she owned and operated a diner named Sawyer's Lunch, was a librarian at Salem Private School, and helped run the Keizer volunteer library for several years.

She and Richard were members of Salem First Evangelical Church and Patty's hobbies included painting, reading, old western movies, and watching her grandkids and great grandkids play. She will always be remembered for her constant smile, singing hymns while working around the house, her love of new babies, her delicious potato salad, and the way she selflessly cared for others. Primarily, and most importantly, she will be remembered for her unwavering faith in the Lord and her simultaneous emotional strength and humility.

She is survived by her sister Maryellen Stesney, her four children David Sawyer, John Sawyer, Jimmy Sawyer, and Becky Gomez, as well as 9 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, and her brothers Wesley Bradley and James Bradley.

The family will be hosting a private graveside service at Restlawn Funeral Home and reception to follow in Dallas, OR. In lieu of flowers, Patty requested that donations be given to Willamette Valley Hospice.
