Rachel L. Boedigheimer

May 18, 1975 — July 28, 2011

SALEM - Rachel Lake Boedigheimer passed away on Thursday, July 28th at her home in South Salem at just 36 years old.
Rachel was born May 18, 1975 in Newberg, Oregon to Leslie and Claudine Lake. She was the baby of the family, having five older brothers and sistersLinda, Leslie Jr., Caroline, James, and Kristina. She was close to her grandparents, James & Carol Mae Merten Smith of St. Paul, and her large extended family. Rachel was adored for her long, golden curls, easily tanned skin, and exuberant and fearless nature. As a child, Rachel was considered a "tom boy", eager to teach herself how to ride her brother's dirt bike, and to jump off the high rocks. She was athletic throughout her youth, earning Varsity spots in softball and volleyball. As she grew older, she grew more beautiful, and developed an impeccable taste for feminine fashion and style. Above all, Rachel was smart, and a natural leader for her decisive ways, love of fun, camaraderie, and magnetism. She lit up a room with both beauty and personality.
Rachel married Ben Boedigheimer on June 16, 2001 in St. Paul, Oregon. Together they shared a love of friends, family, and celebration-and their daughter, Shaylee. Rachel loved Shaylee, spoiling her with shopping sprees and trips to the beach. Rachel also loved her pugs, Junior, Daisy and Tex. She worked primarily in banking and finance, and was generous in her support of friends and family's charities and needs.
Rachel endured a number of tragedies in her short life, and the related loss of her two babies, Joan in 2002 and Catherine in 2003. Rachel is survived by her husband, Ben Boedigheimer, daughter Shaylee, parents, Les and Claudine Lake of Salem, sister Linda Lake of McMinnville, brother Leslie Jr. of McMinnville, sister Caroline Mouille of Jefferson, brother James Lake of Keizer, Kristina Lake of Portland, 11 nieces and nephews, and her beloved pugs.
Memorial services for Rachel are to be held Friday, August 5th at 11:00am at the St. Paul Cemetery, followed by a gathering of friends and family at the St. Paul Bullpen at noon.
