Robert (Bob) Graham Gough
May 9, 1938-March 2, 2016
Bob went to be with his Lord on March 2, passing away from lung cancer at the age of 77. He was born in Helena, MT to Donald and Jane (Bell) Gough. Bob moved to Great Falls where he graduated from Great Falls High School in 1956. He spent three years in the Marine Corps at Camp Pendleton, and then moved back to Great Falls. He married the love of his life, Helene Hubbard, on August 3, 1963, then he started college at Montana State University in September. Upon graduation, they moved to Eugene for him to attend graduate school at the University of Oregon. After receiving his master's degree in sociology, they moved to Salem where he worked at the OR Correctional Institution. Bob continued working for the State, primarily with the Commission for the Blind for 28 years, retiring in 1997.
He was involved in several activities including working with Boy Scout Troop 18, Jason Lee Food Bank, a pinochle group, bowling and was an active member of Morningside United Methodist Church. Bob enjoyed spending time with family and friends, fishing, gardening, traveling, movies and playing cards. He had a good sense of humor and was warm and friendly to everyone.
Bob is survived by his wife Helene, daughter Robin (Michael) Cashin, son Kevin (Stephanie) Gough and grandsons Cameron, Carson and Tarin. He is also survived by brothers Barry and Bill (Sharron) and sister Wendy Haley. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Thanks to the many friends and caregivers who have supported our family during this difficult time. Donations may be made to the Jason Lee Food Bank through Morningside U. Methodist Church and Willamette Valley Hospice, 1015 3rd St. NW, Salem 97304.
The Celebration of Life will be held in September at Morningside United Methodist Church.
