Robert was born August 10, 1925 in Mecca, Indiana and Died September 9, 2014 in Salem, Oregon.
His legacy is one of making a commitment to family, friends, work and to staying the course. The loving husband, father, family patriarch and WWII veteran went to be with his Lord last Tuesday.
Robert (mostly known as Bob) was married to Maxine Ernest for 68 years. They lived in the home they built in West Salem for over 60 years where they raised their four children. He worked at the paper mill in Salem where he retired after 43 years.
When Bob was not working or caring for his family, he loved to hunt and fish and take care of his home and small acreage.
He was preceded in death by his older son Randy and younger daughter Jennifer. He is survived by his wife Maxine, daughter Debra McCurry (husband Patrick) of Keizer and son Marty Melton (wife Lori) of Hopewell. His extended heritage includes 9 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
