Rochelle Ann (Bolin) Banister was born on September 5, 1937, in Senath, Missouri, and passed away on May 18, 2023, in Salem, Oregon. She graduated from Bakersfield High School in 1957. Rochelle was born with a heart defect that was not corrected until age 20 when she had a 50% chance of surviving the procedure. She also developed severe scoliosis at age 10, which resulted in a permanent disability despite several surgeries to correct her spine. Nevertheless, she went on to have a long and fulfilling life, fueled by her love of theater, art, and creativity evidenced by her years of being a beautician and a proprietor of a side business creating wedding florals and decorations. Her love of God and her steadfast faith was her strength, and she loved people, including her children, spouses, and best friends from high school, with whom she enjoyed over 65 years of friendship.
Rochelle was predeceased by her mother Chattie (Dye) Bolin, her father Frank Nathaniel Bolin, brothers James Bolin and Winfred “Dee” Bolin, her first husband Ernest Goff, her stepsons Steven Goff and David Goff, and her son-in-law Dr. Tony Martin. She is survived by her second husband, Ray Banister, her children Dr. Damara Goff Paris and Wendell Goff, stepdaughter Shery Goff-Hollingsworth, and stepson Mark Banister, and many grandchildren and step-grandchildren (Conner Goff, Ben Goff, Sekoia Paris, David Goff, Jr., Daniel Goff, Natalie Banister, Joe Shannon, and Jessica Shannon). Rochelle is also survived by her two best friends from high school, Shirley Ann (Kingsley) Alameda and Anita Fulkerson.
Services will be held at Restlawn Funeral Home in Salem, Oregon on May 31st at 11 am, followed by a private gravesite ceremony at Camp Creek Cemetery in Springfield, Oregon. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Salvation Army.
