Ronald Eugene Sindlinger

Salem - Ronald Eugene Sindlinger, 68, died of cancer on Sunday, November 17, 2013, at home in Salem, Oregon, lovingly enveloped in prayer by his entire family. He was born on August 2, 1945 in Blossburg, PA to Roger and Harriet Sindlinger.
Ron grew up in Liberty, PA, where he graduated from Liberty Area High School in 1963. He attended Penn State Hazelton Campus in Hazelton, PA where he received an Associate degree in Electrical Engineering and was inducted into the college basketball Hall of Fame. Ron worked for GTE Sylvania in Research and Development for 22 years. He then worked as a salesman, entrepreneur, and small business owner for 18 years. For the last 5 1/2 years, he worked at Lowe's in Keizer, OR as an Electrical Pro.
Ron married Edie Eileen Berguson in 1966 in Arnot, PA. They were happily married for 47 years. He faithfully served at Turbotville Independent Baptist Church, Turbotville, PA, for 36 years. More recently, Ron was a member of Willamette Valley Baptist Church. He enjoyed basketball, woodworking, gardening, and spending time with family.
Ron is survived by his wife, Edie Sindlinger of Salem, OR; children, Barry Sindlinger, Amy Smith, Kelly Nickel, and Kyle Sindlinger; sister, Donna Pepperman; and sixteen grandchildren.
Ron was preceded in death by his father Roger Sindlinger and mother Harriet Sindlinger Joseph.
A private graveside service for the family was held on Thursday, November 21st. A memorial service will be held at Willamette Valley Baptist Church in Aumsville, OR at 3pm on Sunday, November 24th. The family will be greeting friends and relatives at this time.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Edie Sindlinger at 3760 Market St NE # 429, Salem, OR 97301. Arrangements are by Restlawn Funeral Home.
