Rose Marjorie Martin
September 2, 1917 - February 14, 2015
Rose Marjorie Martin born September 2, 1917 to Joseph and Celia "Gilbert" Perry passed away peacefully, on Valentine's Day, in Portland. She was raised in Shaw, and graduated from Aumsville High School. In 1938 she married Harry Martin Jr. and lived on a farm in Macleay for 18 years, then moved to Medford with their three children. In 1960 the family moved to Dallas. In 1986 her husband passed away after 49 years of marriage, and she decided to move to Portland to live with her youngest daughter and her family until 2010. She then moved into an assisted living facility where she made lots of new friends and shared her talents.
Rose was a gardener and had a green thumb for growing things, especially flowers. Her windowsill was always full of flowers in bloom. She loved arts and crafts, knitting sweaters and crocheting afghans. She was a member of St. Phillips Catholic Church and was a Macleay Grange member for over 75 years.
Rose leaves behind her three children and their spouses, Marilyn Martin, Larry Martin, Marjean Storey, 6 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She touched a lot of lives in her 97 years and will be missed by many.
There will be memorial service for close friends and family at Restlawn Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, February 21st at 11:00am, and then Rose will be buried in a private burial next to her Valentine of 49 years.
