Shirley Bullock Andis Wilson went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on June 28, 2019 at the age of 96. Shirley was born July 4, 1922 to Alfred and Ingrid Bullock, Warroad, MN. She lived with various family members following the death of her mother when Shirley was two years old. Her high school days were challenging as she had to work for her room-and-board. She graduated from Fargo ND High School in 1940. Shirley married Clark Andis of Presho, SD in 1942. Clark served in the Pacific Theatre during WWII, beginning in the summer of 1943. Shirley also joined the war effort by enlisting in the Women’s Army Corps and had training and duty stations in Des Moines, IA, Orlando, FL and Washington DC. Upon Clark’s return, they lived in Ft. Collins, CO where Clark pursued a degree in Veterinary Medicine. From there, they moved to Arlington, SD where Clark opened his veterinary practice.
Shirley pursued her Bachelor’s Degree in Education and additionally her Master’s Degree in Guidance and Counseling and spent fifteen years teaching Language Arts in the Sinai and Volga School Systems. Following her husband Clark’s passing in 1978, Shirley made Salemtowne, OR her home where she enjoyed playing competitive golf on courses in the area. She was a member of Salem First Church of the Nazarene, Salem, OR.
In 1997, she married Richard Wilson and continued living in Salemtowne until Richard’s passing in 2016 which is when she became a resident of Hidden Lakes in Salem, OR.
Shirley is survived by her half-brother Larry Herzog, Grand Forks, ND, son Clark Andis, Palm Harbor, FL, daughters Sharon Andis, Sublimity, OR and Vick Suhn (Vern) Eureka, KS, six grandchildren: Annetta Andis-Ketterl, KaLynn Andis, Michael Stadler, Melissa Miotke, Jared Suhn and Jessica White; ten great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. Shirley was predeceased by her sister Lillian Bullock.
Funeral service for Shirley will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, July 7 at the Chapel of Restlawn Funeral Home, Salem, OR.
