Stephanie Gerber

February 11, 1926 — November 15, 2021

Stephanie Gerber passed away peacefully into her heavenly home on November 15, 2021. She was 95 years old.
Stephanie was born to Klym and Katherina Melnychuk on February 11, 1926 in Preeceville, Saskatchewan. She was the second oldest of 13 children. At the age of twenty-six, she packed up her sewing machine and moved to Los Angeles, where she met her future husband, Stanley Gerber. After moving to Salem, Oregon, they were married in July of 1956 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. They were happily married for 61 years. She became an American citizen in 1969. She was a stay-at-home mom, and then worked at the cannery until retirement at age 62. She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed her sewing customers into her nineties.
During her retirement, Stephanie enjoyed spending time with her family, working in her flower beds, gardening, canning, cooking and solving puzzles. She always looked forward to meeting her friends at McDonalds several times a week for coffee.
She is preceded in death by her husband Stanley and is survived by her children: Carol Labrousse (Randi) of Keizer, Sharon Williams (Greg) of Portland, and Randy Gerber of Salem. She leaves behind eight grandchildren: Megan Mannenbach (Joe), Molly Haduch (AJ), Jennifer Labrousse, Allison Labrousse, Wesley Williams, Samantha Sturgill (Erick), Chloe Gerber, and Peter Gerber; and seven great-grandchildren.
Stephanie was a loving and kind wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was always patient, generous, and humble. Her Catholic faith, family and friendships were so important to her. We will miss her dearly.
